The Finnish Government’s analysis, assessment and research activities (VN TEAS) generate information that support political decision making. It has to be easy to make effective use of the new information produced by VN TEAS projects, so the research projects demand good interaction and communication skills.
VN TEAS’ interaction events are events that collide researchers, decision makers and officials with each other. We have acted as a partner of the Prime Minister’s Office in organising interaction events since 2015. Ten events have been organised during this time. Each event has been designed around a varying theme and they have addressed issues from meeting journalists and making use of social media to researchers’ information management and constructive dialogue. Speakers at the events have included such figures as CMI’s Executive Director Tuija Talvitie and Marko Junkkari, chief political editor of Helsingin Sanomat. Participants have had the opportunity to practise various communication and interaction skills, from writing policy briefs to visualising information.
